DANNY ALAN "DAN" BELT Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Danny Alan "Dan" Belt will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 at the Cortez Elks Lodge. Dan was born August 30, 1948 in Wenatchee, Wash. the son of Richard Vance and Alice Jane (Brown) Belt. He passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at his residence at the age of 68. Dan attended Fort Lewis College and received a Bachelor Degree in Political Science. In 1979, Dan became the owner and operator of Belt Salvage Company. He was a member of the Cortez Elks Lodge and the National Rifle Association. Dan was an avid outdoorsman; hunting and fishing were among his favorite activities. He also loved to play softball and he followed baseball faithfully. Traveling brought Dan much enjoyment and he was known as a successful real estate entrepreneur. Surviving Dan are his children, Chris Belt (Brenda) of Dolores, and Kelly Belt (Alisa) of Cortez; his grandchildren, Richard Belt, Josh Belt, Brock Belt, Lyndroth Belt, Jacob Belt, and Grace Belt; his sister, Sandy Griffith (Bill) of Cortez; and by his sweetheart, Shirley Lippis. Dan was preceded in death by his parents.
