Clarence Hight Jr.

CLARENCE HIGHT JR. Funeral services for lifelong Towaoc resident, Clarence Hight Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15 at the Towaoc Presbyterian Church. Sister Lois Wooten and Mac Coyote Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Towaoc Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Clarence was born May 25, 1950 in Ignacio, Colo., the son of Clarence Hight Sr. and Minnette Lopez Talk. He passed away at his home in Towaoc on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the age of 57. An avid basketball player, Clarence spent many years playing the game in which he won several awards. He also enjoyed many other sports and was a supporter of the Broncos. He loved hunting and fishing and driving the back roads of the Ute Mountain, which he knew well. Clarence worked most of his life for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe in many capacities. Surviving Clarence are his wife, Terri Weeks of Towaoc; his children, Craig Julian Hight of Bayfield, Colo., Terrance Allan Hight of Ignacio, Colo., and Somora Fall Hight of Towaoc; stepdaughter, Zadora Weeks; stepson, Randolph Wing; granddaughter, Terena Raylee Hight of Ignacio, Colo.; and step granddaughter, Tashawna Mills of Towaoc . Also surviving Clarence are his sisters, LaVerna Summa, Vera Summa, Euna Whiteman, Mary Jayne Hight-Kay, Ethel M. Jacket, Doris Heart, and Shirley Eyetoo all of Towaoc; by his aunts, Louise T. Begay and Theatis Cloud Williams of Ignacio, Colo; and by uncles, Glen Talk Sr. of Mancos Creek, Nathan Cloud of Ignacio, and Winfred House and Norman Lopez both of Towaoc. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Victoria Hight and Bryant Hight; and his sister, June Williams.
