Claire Hyde Jeppson

October 9, 1930 — May 18, 2020

Claire Hyde Jeppson, our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went to be with her husband and family in Heaven on May 18, 2020 at the age of 89.
Claire was born October 9, 1930 in Monticello, Utah to Carlos Leo and Julia Allred Hyde. She was the second of six girls. She grew up in Monticello and on June 15, 1949 married Thomas Charles Jeppson in the Manti Temple. Thomas taught school and they lived in several towns in Utah as they raised their 5 children. In 1960 they accepted a teaching position in Torrance, CA where they moved their young family and enjoyed the many opportunities and friendships that they had there. In 1989 they moved back to Monticello, Utah to spend their retirement. In 1994 they moved to Cortez, CO to be closer to family. Her loving husband, Thomas, passed away in 1995 and she has missed him these last 25 years. Claire was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She was a very hard worker who loved to cook, clean, sew, quilt and garden. While in California she took pottery, cake decorating and calligraphy classes, which she used to beautify her home and treat her family and friends. She was always very kind, thoughtful and giving to all who knew her. She was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served her sisters for many years in the Relief Society and Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Claire was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Beverly Jorgenson, Dora Jane Bowcutt, and Virginia Miller-Titus; and two daughters-in–law, Marie Jeppson, and Linda Sue Jeppson. She is survived by her sisters, Anna Laura Broderick, and Carolyn Johnson-Marshall (Dan); all of her children, Buckley Jeppson (Mike) of Portland, OR, Sharon Morgan (Jim) of Cortez, CO, Robert Jeppson of Charlotte, NC, Paul Jeppson (Lori) of Reno, NV, and David Jeppson (Meredith) of Fort Worth, TX; 22 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A family graveside service will be held at the Monticello City Cemetery.
