Chris Olen Marion

CHRIS OLEN MARION Chris Olen Marion passed away in the early morning hours on Thursday, April 23, 2015. He was 60 years old. Chris passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones. Chris was born to Fronia Inez and Cris Raymond Marion on March 22, 1955 in Dove Creek, Colo. He spent his early years growing up in Cortez but after the disappearance of his grandfather and death of his grandmother he moved to Mancos with his mom and brother. There he graduated from Mancos High School in 1973. He married his childhood friend, Carolyn Sue Carver, on June 29, 1979 in a beautiful sunset ceremony at Transfer Park in Mancos, Colo. He was employed as a warehouse and shipping clerk at Skanska for 14 years. His failing health forced him to leave Skanska in March of this year. Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Fronia Inez; father, Cris Raymond Marion; his sister, Linda Gail; and his grandparents, Olen Henry and Fronia Inez Hicks. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 36 years, Carolyn Marion; seven daughters, Vanessa Harward, Rachel Leonetti and husband, Mike Leonetti of Greeley, Colo., Olivia Marion of Cortez, Victoria Conner and husband, Matt Conner of Anchorage, Alaska, Kaitlyn Begaye of Cortez, Sierra Marion of Miami, Fla., and Sophia Marion of the family home; one son, Austin Marion of the family home; and 12 grandchildren, Ethan Harward, Jaxten and Paiton Leonetti, Autumn, Kadence and Dallon Marion, Jayden, Jared, Mckenzie and Matthew Conner, and Destinee and Malachi Begaye. Chris was a kind and loving man always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. His gentleness and soft spoken demeanor touched the lives of everyone he met; he will be sorely missed. He was kept by his faith in God's word. A viewing will be held Thursday, April 30 at Ertel Memorial Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be held at Cortez Elks Lodge, Friday, May 1 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Arriola Cemetery. There will be a potluck afterwards back at the Elks Lodge. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Chris Marion at Dolores State Bank.
