CHEROL KAE ACREE Funeral services for Cherol Kae Acree a lifelong Cortez resident will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 29 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Chaplain Marvin Graves will officiate. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Cherol Kae Acree peacefully passed from this world at her home in Cortez, Colo. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 surrounded by her family after a long battle with brain cancer. She was born September 13, 1949 in Cortez to Donald Rae and Dorothy Mirebell (Shearer) Sanders. Cherol was a loving mother to Shane and Shona born from her first marriage to Gary Boothe. Cherol grew up in Dolores, later moving to Cortez where she met Gary and then moved to Farmington, N.M. After the end of her marriage to Gary, Cherol met Mark Acree in Dolores; they fell in love and were married, moving to then to Cortez. With this marriage to Mark another daughter, Sarah, was welcomed into her family. Later in Cherol and Mark's marriage, they raised a granddaughter, Ashlee Cruzan, as their own. Cherol loved working in her yard and grew beautiful flowers. Surviving Cherol are her loving husband, Mark Acree of Cortez; her children, Shane Boothe of California, Shona Fish of North Dakota, and Sarah Bellew and husband, Victor of Montana; seven grandchildren, Ashlee, Riley, Jacob, Payson, Ashton, Clover and Christopher; siblings, Murna Hinton and husband, Rick of Mesa, Ariz., Nova Slavens and husband, Gary of Cortez, and David Sanders of Cortez; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Erma and Jack Acree of Cahone, sisters-in-law, Lisa Acree of Denver, Colo. and Cheryl Sanders of Cortez; brothers-in-law, John Acree and wife, Yukari of California and David Acree and wife, Nancy of Mancos; former son-in-law, Paul Fish of Cortez; former mother-in-law, Ella Boothe and family of Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cherol was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Lynn Sanders; grandparents, Greta Shearer and Wes Shearer; and sister-in-law, Patti Smith. The Acree family would like to extend thanks to all the Hospice personnel, with special thanks to Leah, Jeanette and Sunny for providing great care. "I love you Cherol and thank you for having me as your husband and best friend." Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Cherol Acree at Citizens State Bank of Cortez.
