Charles William "Chuck" Blaisdell Jr.

Memorial services for Charles William “Chuck” Blaisdell Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans of Montezuma County.
Chuck was born February 10, 1945 in Wichita, Kan. the son of Charles William Blaisdell Sr. and Dorothy Mary (Eaton) Blaisdell. He passed away peacefully at his home in Cortez on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at his residence with his family by his side, after a long battle with terminal cancer at the age of 74.
He was born in Wichita, KS where he spent the first few years of his life, until his father returned home after serving in the Army in WWII. They then moved back to the Blaisdell Homestead in Cahone, CO where he spent his time hunting, fishing, playing sports and working on anything that needed fixing. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1963, where he met and married Judy Taylor. Together they had a beautiful baby girl, Diana Lynn. They later divorced. Chuck served as a Navy SeaBee in Vietnam from 1967-1968. After returning home from Vietnam, he met and married Sharon Ross in Naturita, CO. They married in 1969 in early spring and later that year welcomed their first child together, Becky. They were living in Phoenix when Dani was born in 1973. Their son Charlie followed in 1976 while they were living in Cahone. While they resided in Cahone, in addition to helping his parents run the post office, restaurant and store Chuck had varied jobs in the mechanic field and mining industry. They moved to Fredonia AZ - Kanab, UT area to work with Energy Fuels in 1985. After several years in Utah they knew they wanted to spend their time back HOME in the Cahone/Cortez area. He would reside there for the remainder of his life.
Surviving Chuck are his loving wife, Sharon (Ross) Blaisdell of Cortez; his children, Diana Betts (Harold) of Greeley, Colo., Rebecca Helms (Robert) of Alton, Utah, Daniele Blaisdell (Peyton) of Dolores, Colo. and Charles B. Blaisdell of Cortez; his sister, Joyce Barber (Kent) of Cahone, Colo.; and by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents.
