CHARLES ALLEN REED Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Charles Allen Reed will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 8 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Charles was born March 20, 1937 in Cortez the son of Clarence Melvin and Anna Margaret (Hull) Reed. He passed away at his residence on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the age of 74. Charles served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. He worked for the Montezuma County Road Department for 33 years. In his free time, Charles enjoyed riding horses and hunting. Surviving Charles are his children, Marjory Powers of Lubbock, Tex. and Faron Reed and wife, Kimberlie of Richfield, Utah; his grandchildren, Megan Drexler, Courtney Aulston, Sedona Reed, Payson Reed, Hayden Reed, and Canyon Reed; his great-grandchild, Cale Reed Drexler; and his brother, Robert Reed and wife, Susie of Chandler, Ariz. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and by his sister, Sharon Honaker. Memorial contributions may be made in Charles' name to the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75.
