BOBBY EUGENE JONES Bobby Eugene Jones was born September 3, 1918 in Gering, Neb. the son of Evan I. and Ethel Mae (Lackey) Jones. He passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. Bobby served his country in the United States Army during World War II under General MacArthur in the Philippines. Bobby retired from the National Guard as a W3 Warrant Officer after 30 years of service. In February of 1948 Bobby married Eva Mary Pryor. He was a member of the Cortez Elks Lodge, the Disabled Veterans Association, V.F.W., the Woodworker's Guild, and American Legion. Bobby held the position of Commander at American Legion Post #28 in Durango and Post #75 in Cortez. In his free time, Bobby enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing. Surviving Bobby are his son, Robert E. Jones and wife, Donna of Durango; his granddaughter, Teri Jones of Lee's Summit, Mo.; his great-granddaughter, Alix McKinney of Independence, Mo.; by his sister, Helen Hays of Cortez; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; by his beloved wife, Eva Mary Jones in April of 2013; by his son, William Evan Jones; by his grandson, Gary Eugene Jones; and by his siblings, Freddie Jones, Meda Pierce, and Billy Jones. Cremation has taken place and services will be announced at a later date.
