BETTY PAULINE LASSLEY Graveside inurnment services for Cortez resident Betty Pauline Lassley will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Pastor Mark Baker will officiate. Betty was born March 9, 1925 in Wamego, Kan. the daughter of Carl Earl and Stella (Rion) Kiefer. She passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 86. On August 17, 1951, Betty married Ernest Junior Lassley in Horton, Kan. The couple shared 60 loving years of marriage before Ernest's passing on November 21, 2011. Betty was a member of the Good Sams Club and she was a part of a women's group called the "Fire Flies" that was associated with the Indian Hills Volunteer Fire Department. In her free time, Betty loved teaching, working on crafts, and she was an amazing seamstress. Surviving Betty are her children, June Bagsby and husband, Steve of Phoenix, Ariz., Michael Lassley and wife, Ruth of Bailey, Colo., and Steven Lassley and wife, Laurie of Conifer, Colo.; by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Arlene Wilson and husband, Chuck of Horton, Kan. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husband, Ernest Lassley.
