On March 31, 1948 Bettie Jo married Ernest Jacques. To this union five children were born; Ted, Judy, Connie, Kathy and Shirley. Bettie Jo and family lived in Farmington, N.M. until 1958 and then they bought a ranch on Summit Ridge in Dolores, Colo. where they lived for more than thirty years. They not only raised all their children there, but they also raised cattle, horses, sheep and different crops. Bettie Jo not only worked on the ranch, but also as a head cook at the Shadow Mountain Caf, the Ute Caf, and the M & M Truck Stop Caf and also worked many years at the Southwest Memorial Hospital. A final move was made in 1976 to Cortez where Bettie Jo and Ernest resided for nearly thirty-five years. During this time Bettie Jo worked with her husband in their business, Lower Valley Mobile Homes, for many years and then she worked as a Senior Aide at Kemper Elementary School helping little children read. Bettie Jo was liked by everyone that met her. She was very well known for her cooking and baking, especially for her bread, cinnamon rolls and most delicious pies. She loved all children, loved serving her church through helping with funeral meals and taking part in the Catholic Daughters of America. Bettie was a blessing to her family, a very hard working wife, devoted mother and doting grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Bettie Jo is survived by one son, Dr. Ted Jacques and wife, Bonnie of Donnelly, ID; and four daughters, Judy Woltemath and husband, Jeff of Pine, CO, Connie McNutt and husband, Jim of Coleman, TX; Kathy Randolph and husband, Jack of Thornton, CO; and Shirley Randolph and husband, Rick of Thornton, CO; eleven grandchildren, Pete Jacques, Amy Chevalier, Victor Woltemath, Joey Woltemath, Michele Wittwer, Jennifer Hanson, Kellie Karraker, Kim Karraker, Krista Elliott, Jamie Erwin and Jake McNutt; and seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Jacques; mother and father, Christina and Frank Garlington; aunt, Evelyn Castleman; and grandparents, Albert and Bessie Simpkins. Bettie Jo's great sense of humor, her welcoming heart, her willingness to help others and contagious, mischievous laugh can never be replaced. We all will miss her more than words can ever express.
