Bennie Eldon Curtis May 13, 1936 - May 8, 2018 It is with sadness in their hearts that the family of Eldon (Ed) Curtis announces his death at his home in Egnar, CO. Eldon, born in Canon City, CO to Virgil and Cora Curtis was a man of the land, nature & wildlife. Family, hunting, camping, building, fixing and creating was his passion. His career allowed him to touch many lives and consisted of a variety of industries. His younger years with semi-trucks and heavy equipment on necessary projects to supervising and teaching of many skills. Projects, Ruedi (Dam) Reservoir, Crystal Dam, Somerset Silos, Olathe and Peoria Schools to name just a few. He could take a chunk of metal/steel, tires & wheels, some gears and build a homemade tractor, a few pieces of wood into a building, a skinned knee into a tough kid and knowledge into a lesson. A man of some many talents/skills! Eldon is preceded in death by his wife, Julia siblings; Lois (Ernie) Chedester, Lyla (Emmett) Doyal and Glen (Alice) Curtis. Eldon will be lovingly remembered by his children; Debbie (Colin) Heupel of Sturgis, SD; Dianna (Michael) Rockwell of Dumont, CO; Emmett (Barbara) Curtis of Egnar, CO; Jim (Elisha) Curtis of Montrose, CO; Sheryl (Dave) Strole of Montrose, CO; Chuck (Christine) Terrell of Olathe, CO; Daughters of the Heart: Michelle Kline, Ivy Smith and Tricia Smith all of Dove Creek, CO. 12 Grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 Great Great-grandchild. Surviving Sisters: Dorthy (Bill) Zordel of Crowley, CO; Shirley (Ed) Downing of Glenwood Springs, CO and Joann (Bill) Dethridge of La Junta, CO No public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eldons honor to St Judes at www.stjude.org.
