ANITA LYNN VIALPANDO Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Anita Lynn Vialpando will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Friday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Anita was born November 17, 1970 in Durango the daughter of Raymond Rumaidito and Jessie (Garcia) Vialpando. She passed away on Monday, July 19, 2016 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 45. Anita graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 1989. She went on to spend 15 years working at Mesa Verde National Park Service in the natural resources department. Anita loved to travel and she enjoyed reading and watching TV. Surviving Anita are her parents, Raymond and Jessie Vialpando of Cortez; her brothers, Ray Vialpando of Cortez and Kevin Vialpando (Adrianna) of Windsor, Colo.; by her nieces, Alyssa Vialpando, Tiva Vialpando, and Sofia Vialpando; and by her nephew, Emilo Vialpando.
