ANDREITA AMALIA "ANNIE" ROMERO Funeral Mass for longtime Cortez resident Andreita Amalia "Annie" Romero will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Reverend Joseph L. Gallegos C.R. will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Friday evening at 6 p.m. at the church. A Rosary service will be recited at 7 p.m. also to be held at the church. Annie was born on November 30, 1924 in Mancos the daughter of Isador and Francis (Lujan) Chavez. She passed away on Monday, June 2, 2008 at her residence at the age of 83. Annie was a devoted member of Catholic Daughters and she was very active with the Cortez Senior Citizens. Annie held many different jobs. She was a past manager at the Mancos Motel and Caf, she was a janitor for the Mancos School District, and she was a waitress at the Mancos Lodge on Jackson Lake. In her free time, Annie loved to dance, make crafts, and crochet. Surviving Annie are her children, Tony Romero and wife, Nancy of Mancos, John S. Romero and wife, Annie of Rock Springs, Wyo., Terry Romero of Cortez, and Danny Romero and wife, Linda Caperell of Las Vegas, Nev.; and her grandchildren, Paula Duran and husband, Adam of Casper, Wyo., Lanita Troyano and husband, Jon of Henderson, Nev., Samantha Romero and Rene Melendez of Farmington, N.M., Luciana Singer and husband, Burl of Cortez, Stephenie Hughes and husband, Dave of Rock Springs, Wyo., Desiree Trujillo and husband, Will of St. George, Utah, Misty Romero and Eric Lanyon of Las Vegas, Nev., Martin Lopez and Rebecca Berry of Cortez, John Romero and wife, Gloria of Caliente, Nev., Mickayla Romero of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jerry Caperell of Las Vegas, Nev. Annie also leaves behind 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her very special sister, Helen Randall of Cortez; her special daughter-in-law, Bobbi Mujie of Las Vegas, Nev.; her very good friend, Marie Richmond; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Annie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Manuel Romero; her son, Estephen Romero; her siblings, Mike Chavez, Louie Chavez, Bernie Chavez, and Susie Chavez; her granddaughter, Valerie Romero; her great-great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Duran; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Romero. Memorial contributions may be made in Annie's memory to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740, Cortez, Colo. 81321.
