Alvin "Al" Miller

ALVIN “AL” MILLER Funeral services for Cortez resident Alvin “Al” Miller will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 28 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Al was born on October 18, 1919 in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Alexander J. and Amalea (Bauer) Miller. He passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Vista Grande Inn at the age of 87. Al moved to Minneapolis, Minn. in 1939 to attend Dunwoody Institute. On May 23, 1942 he married Lucille Engelbretson in Minneapolis. Al served three years in the Army during WWII. He spent two years in Adak, Alaska and returned home in 1946. Al was employed by Allied Store Equipment Company in 1949. Later the company changed names and was then known as Hussmann Refrigeration Inc. Al retired as a Branch Manager. He was a member of Bella Vista Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, Ark. as well as Trinity Lutheran Church after moving to Cortez in May of 2005. In his spare time, Al enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Surviving Al are his wife, Lucille Miller of Cortez; his sons, Gregg Miller and wife, Sharon of Phoenix, Ariz., Brian Miller and wife, Jane of Telluride, Colo., Bruce Miller and wife, Nikki of Medford, N.J.; his sisters, Alvina Little, and Mildred Honke; and his brother, Richard Miller. Al was preceded in death by his parents; and three of his brothers.
